Once registered with the GDC, qualified staff must continually update their knowledge. The requirements are 150 hours over a 5 year period, 50 of these hours must be verifiable, 20 of which need to cover ‘core’ topics.

The GDC defines CPD as ‘Study, training courses, seminars, reading & other activities undertaken by a dental professional, which could reasonably be expected to advance his or her development as a dental professional.

Verifiable CPD needs to have clear aims, outcomes and objectives  & carries proof of completion / participation such as a certificate.

Core topics includes: Medical Emergencies (min 10 hours), Disinfection & Decontamination (min 5 hours) and Radiography & Radiation Protection (min 5 hours). For dental nurses who work in the clinical environment, legal & ethical issues & complaints handling also need to be covered (either verifiable or non verifiable). A core topic is mandatory.

Each topic can be ordered separately depending on your requirements, core topics can be requested separately or as a full package at a discounted rate. Each topic can be completed in your own time. Once you have completed the assessment, just return it to us & you will receive a certificate stating your CPD hours gained. Core topics are £25 per topic or £85 for the full 20hours, non-core verifiable CPD is £20 per topic.
